Salah, 33, becomes the first player ever to win the prestigious award three times, surpassing icons Cristiano Ronaldo, Thierry Henry, Gareth Bale, Mark Hughes, Alan Shearer, and Kevin De Bruyne, all of whom were two-time winners but never reached a third triumph.
The Egyptian star’s stellar campaign featured 34 goals and 23 assists in 52 appearances across all competitions, fueling Liverpool’s charge to the Premier League title. In league play, Salah finished as both the top scorer (29 goals) and top assist-provider (18 assists), earning him the rare double honor of the Golden Boot and Playmaker awards in the same season. His contributions proved pivotal as Liverpool finished 10 points clear of rivals Arsenal.
“This journey, coming from Egypt and becoming the first to do this in English football, makes me extremely proud,” Salah said after accepting the award. “I hope it inspires many young players around the world who dream of reaching the top.”
Salah’s record season was further recognized with the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year and Premier League Player of the Season awards. In April 2025, he secured his Liverpool future by signing a two-year contract extension.
Voted for by fellow professional players, the PFA Player of the Year is regarded as English football’s most prestigious individual accolade—one that Salah now stands alone in winning three times.
