One of the headline changes is a cut in drink prices. The price of a pint of Guinness has been rolled back to £7.50, matching 2022 levels, alongside reductions on selected spirits and the introduction of prosecco at bars across the course. Furthermore, all restrictions on where drinks can be consumed within the Club Enclosure have been lifted, giving racegoers more freedom to enjoy beverages without long queues or limitations.
To improve comfort and reduce overcrowding, the daily attendance at the Cheltenham Festival will be capped at 66,000, down from the previous maximum of 68,500. This move reflects a clear focus on quality over quantity, aiming to create a more pleasant atmosphere and easier movement throughout the course.
Addressing longstanding issues with parking logistics, Cheltenham has invested heavily in car park infrastructure. Over an area equivalent to 17 football pitches, new hard-standing trackways are being installed to prevent the mud problems that have impacted arrivals and departures during poor weather. A new park-and-ride system will launch nearby, complemented by increased National Express coach services from over 20 locations, doubling previous options for public transport to the racecourse.
Additional upgrades include a redesigned Tented Village featuring a covered food court and expanded food and beverage selections under shelter. Several bars in the Main Grandstand have been refurbished, including the debut of a new bar called Prestbury View. Enhancements to the PA system and racecourse TV coverage promise clearer commentary and more live data displays to enrich race viewing.
Ticket prices for the 2025 Festival will remain frozen, with a 20% discount offered to those buying tickets for multiple days, excluding the headline Gold Cup day. Hot and cold meal deals at multiple outlets will provide added value, addressing calls for more affordable options.
Cheltenham’s Chief Executive, Guy Lavender, emphasized that these changes are part of an ongoing evolution to deliver a world-class racing experience. “We want racegoers to feel they are stepping into somewhere truly special from the moment they arrive,” he said. “This is about listening to our customers, evolving the experience, and ensuring Cheltenham remains the jewel in the crown of jump racing.”
With these initiatives, Cheltenham Racecourse aims to secure its position at the forefront of the sport, combining top-class racing with enhanced visitor comfort and value.
