Aston Villa 3–2 PSG (Aggregate: 4–5)
At Villa Park, Aston Villa produced a spirited comeback attempt against Paris Saint-Germain, winning 3-2 on the night but falling just short on aggregate. PSG, holding a 3-1 lead from the first leg, seemed to have the tie under control after Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes scored early to extend their aggregate advantage to 5-1. However, Villa responded with remarkable intensity. Youri Tielemans ignited the comeback with a goal in the 34th minute, followed by quick strikes from John McGinn and Ezri Konsa just after halftime, narrowing the aggregate score to 5-4.
Despite Villa’s relentless pressure and the raucous home support, PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma made crucial saves to deny the English side a fairytale turnaround. PSG ultimately held on to secure their place in the semifinals, where they will face either Arsenal or Real Madrid.
Borussia Dortmund 3–1 Barcelona (Aggregate: 3–5)
In Dortmund, the hosts nearly staged a dramatic comeback against Barcelona. Serhou Guirassy was the star for Borussia Dortmund, scoring a hat-trick—including a panenka penalty and a close-range finish—to give his side hope of overturning a 4-0 deficit from the first leg. Barcelona, however, managed to steady themselves after Fermin Lopez forced an own goal from Ramy Bensebaini, which proved pivotal in stifling Dortmund’s momentum.
Despite losing 3-1 on the night, Barcelona advanced 5-3 on aggregate, keeping their treble dreams alive. The Catalan side will now prepare for a semifinal clash against either Inter Milan or Bayern Munich.
Looking Ahead
With both favorites surviving intense second legs, the Champions League semifinals are set to feature PSG against the winner of Arsenal vs. Real Madrid, and Barcelona against the winner of Inter Milan vs. Bayern Munich. The stage is now set for another round of high-stakes European football as the competition heads toward its climax in Munich.
