Shock Results Set the Stage

Both Fluminense and Al Hilal arrive in the quarterfinals after stunning victories in the previous round. Fluminense dispatched UEFA Champions League finalists Inter Milan 2-0, thanks to goals from Germán Cano and Hércules. Al Hilal produced the upset of the tournament, eliminating Premier League champions Manchester City 4-3 after extra time, with Marcos Leonardo scoring twice to seal the win.

Palmeiras, another Brazilian contender, edged past Botafogo with a dramatic 100th-minute goal from Paulinho. Chelsea, after a marathon match delayed by weather, overcame Benfica 4-1 in extra time, with goals from Christopher Nkunku, Pedro Neto, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

European heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich will clash in Atlanta, both having advanced comfortably from the Round of 16. PSG ended Inter Miami’s run with a 4-0 win, while Bayern Munich’s attacking power has been on full display throughout the tournament.

Real Madrid, led by the likes of Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappé, face Borussia Dortmund, who progressed after defeating Monterrey. Dortmund, however, will be without Jobe Bellingham, missing out on a much-anticipated sibling showdown.
