Stuttgart, Germany – Spain booked their place in a third consecutive UEFA Nations League final after a breathtaking 5-4 victory over France in Stuttgart, a match that will be remembered as the highest-scoring in the competition’s history.

Yamal Inspires Spanish Surge

Seventeen-year-old sensation Lamine Yamal was the star of the show, scoring twice and tormenting the French defense throughout the night. Yamal’s composure was on full display as he won and converted a penalty early in the second half, before adding his second goal to cap a dazzling performance.

Spain raced to a 2-0 lead inside 25 minutes thanks to goals from Nico Williams and Mikel Merino. Yamal’s penalty and a sublime chip from Pedri extended the lead to 4-0 just after halftime. France’s Kylian Mbappé pulled one back from the spot, but Yamal struck again to make it 5-1 by the 67th minute.

France’s Late Fightback

Despite trailing by four goals, France mounted a spirited comeback in the final 15 minutes. Rayan Cherki scored a stunning long-range effort, Daniel Vivian turned a cross into his own net, and Randal Kolo Muani’s header in stoppage time brought France within a goal. However, Spain held firm to secure the win and a place in Sunday’s final against Portugal.

Record-Breaking Night

This 5-4 thriller is the highest-scoring match in Nations League history.

Spain have now reached three straight Nations League finals, underlining their consistency at the top level of European football.

Lamine Yamal was named Player of the Match for his two goals and relentless attacking threat.

What’s Next

Spain will face Portugal in the Nations League final on Sunday in Munich, while France will play Germany in the third-place playoff.

“It was a great game. In the end, it was close, we played well and I think we deserved to win,” said Yamal after the match.

Spain’s blend of youthful talent and attacking flair has set up a mouthwatering Iberian showdown for the title.
