Tottenham Hotspur’s season lurched into full-blown crisis as a 10-man Spurs side collapsed to a 3-1 defeat against Crystal Palace at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

A result that drags them ever closer to the Premier League relegation zone. The loss extends their winless run in the league to 11 matches and leaves them hovering just above the bottom three with the run-in looming.

First-half turns on Van de Ven red card

Tottenham actually struck first, calming a tense home crowd when Dominic Solanke finished after good work from Archie Gray to put the hosts 1-0 up midway through the first half. But the game flipped dramatically before the break as captain Micky van de Ven was sent off for pulling back Ismaïla Sarr in the box, conceding a penalty and leaving Spurs down to 10 men.

Sarr converted from the spot to level the match, and Spurs’ composure disintegrated in stoppage time. A goalkeeping error gifted Jørgen Strand Larsen Palace’s second, before Sarr struck again deep into added time to complete a ruthless three-goal burst before half-time.

Spurs’ slide and mounting pressure

The defeat piles further pressure on new head coach Igor Tudor, who is still searching for his first league win since taking charge and now faces a brutal schedule that includes a trip to Liverpool and a Champions League tie with Atletico Madrid. Tottenham sit perilously close to the relegation places, with confidence on the pitch visibly draining and the home crowd growing increasingly anxious.

Striker Dominic Solanke admitted there could be “no more excuses” after the latest setback, pointing to injuries, poor form and fragile belief as contributing factors in Spurs’ alarming slide. For a club accustomed to chasing European football, the immediate priority has now shifted to simply securing survival.

Palace surge towards safety

For Crystal Palace, the win was a statement performance that pushes them comfortably towards mid-table safety and eases any lingering fears of being dragged into the scrap below. Under Oliver Glasner, Palace showed resilience to recover from a goal down and ruthless efficiency to punish Tottenham’s numerical disadvantage and defensive errors.

The victory lifts Palace further clear of danger and underlines their strong form against struggling sides, while leaving Spurs staring at an unexpected relegation fight in the closing weeks of the campaign.
